Liferaft Systems Australia (LSA) are proud to announce the completion of an installation, deployment test and commissioning of the LSA SAFE® (Single Activation Fast Evacuation) approved mini slide system.
The deployment test was conducted at a shipyard in Europe from a Ro-Pax vessel currently under construction. The deployment test was completed under the supervision of Liferaft Systems Australia MES Technicians.
LSA European Manager Mr Peter Rea stated “LSA are proud to be working on this very exciting and innovative project. We have supplied 3 x LSA SAFE® mini slide systems for this vessel consisting of a Transport Canada and US Coast Guard Type Approved 4m Mini Slide operationally packed with a150 IBA into our extremely compact and lightweight aluminium case. An additional 6 x 150p IBA’s are linked to the LSA SAFE® systems providing a total liferaft capacity of 1350 persons.
LSA Managing Director Mike Grainger commented;
“We congratulate all involved on achieving this major milestone event in terms of installing the LSA SAFE® on this new vessel. Two LSA SAFE® systems plus 1 x 150p IBA were deployed and ready for evacuation in less than 40 seconds, demonstrating the very efficient, lightweight design which is operated by a single crew member with no requirements for bowsing line adjustments, ships power or hydraulics.
LSA North America Manager Mr Vlad Prato continued by saying “we have worked closely on this project with the vessel designers and also our Halifax based service representative DSS Protection based in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. The efforts of all concerned clearly demonstrate the global capability of Liferaft Systems Australia by working with shipyards, vessel designers and DSS Protection in Nova Scotia to bring together this very exciting and innovative project.
