The LSA Marine Evacuation System (MES) was the first fully type approved MES in the world, which evacuates passengers & crew dry-shod, directly from the vessel into a large capacity liferaft via an inflatable slide. LSA pioneered this technology which some have tried but have failed to copy.
LSA MES can be deployed by one crewmember, with minimal training, to evacuate 100 passengers in less than 4 minutes.
LSA MES has been deployed and tested successfully for over 25 years from vessels both large and small and as diverse as super yachts, aircraft carriers, cruise ships, high speed ferries, crew boats, special purpose ships, Logistic support vessels, hospital ships, ro-pax and passenger only ferries. In that time over 30,000 persons have used an LSA MES without any significant incident. That is testimony to the simple design which is proven repeatedly to offer safe yet rapid evacuation from the vessel. LSA MES can be deployed by one crewmember, with minimal training, to evacuate 100 passengers in less than 4 minutes.
Please see pictures of LSA MES deployments from the early 1990s with Incat 030 up to the present day with the deployment from the Royal Navy Aircraft Carrier HMS Prince of Wales.
